ABSTRACT

Introducción: La calidad de vida relacionada con la salud es tal vez una de las formas más objetivas de medir la salud. Proporciona una evaluación más comprensiva, integral y válida del estado de salud. Objetivo: El propósito del estudio fue evaluar la percepción de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud (CVRS) de las personas adultas mayores de la ciudad de Chiclayo, e identificar qué características epidemiológicas están relacionadas con ello. Metodología: Se realizó un muestreo por conglomerados, participando 400 sujetos, a los cuales se les aplicó dos instrumentos: una ficha socioepidemiológica y un cuestionario de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud SF-36 Health Survey, cuyas dimensiones evaluadas fueron: función física (FF), rol físico (RF), dolor corporal (DC), salud general (SG), vitalidad (VT), función social (FS), rol emocional (RE) y salud mental (SM). Resultados: Se encontró una población con predominio del sexo femenino (56,25%), con una edad media de 70,62 +/- 8,02 y una media general de 71,29 +/- 7,90. 52,75% mencionaron presencia de enfermedades sean agudas y/o crónicas y 18,3% mencionó consumir alguna sustancia psicoactiva (alcohol, tabaco, sedantes). Respecto a los resultados del SF-36 se puede observar que las dimensiones FS, SM y la VT obtuvieron las puntuaciones más altas con el 72,75% o puntaje, 68,74%, y 64,61% respectivamente; y siendo las dimensiones más bajas las relacionadas a SG, RF y DC con el 50,22, 61,18 y 62,22 respectivamente. Conclusiones: el sexo masculino, grado de instrucción, ingreso mayores a S/. 1.000 son factores protectores; mientras que como factores de riesgo tenemos la edad, estar sin actividad lucrativa, no tener cobertura asistencial y finalmente el tener alguna patología crónica. Introduction: the quality of life related to health is perhaps one of the most objective measure of health. Provides a more comprehensive, integral and valid health status. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the perception of Health-Related Quality of Life in elderly adults living in Chiclayo, and to identify the epidemiological characteristics related with such perception. Methods: A cluster sampling method was used, 400 subjects were interviewed using 2 instruments, a social and epidemiological form and a quality of life questionnaire based on the SF-36 Health Survey, and the variables assessed were as follows: physical functioning, physical role, body pain, general health, vitality, social functioning, emotional role, and mental health. Results: Subjects included in the survey were mainly female (56.25%), with a mean age 71.29 +/- 7.90 years; more than half of the subjects (52.75%) reported the presence of acute and/or chronic diseases, and 18.3% reported the use of a psychoactive substance (alcohol, tobacco, sedative drugs). With respect to the SF-36 questionnaire, the items physical functioning, mental health, and vitality had the highest rates: 72.75%, 68.74%, and 64.61%, respectively; and the lowest rates were found in general health, physical role, and bodily pain, accounting 50.22%, 61.18%, and 62.22%, respectively. Conclusions: Being male sex, with a higher school grade and having a net income more than 1,000 Soles (Peruvian Currency) were considered as protective factors; and risk factors included being more than 80 years of age, having no income-generating activity, not having any health coverage, and having any chronic disease.
